Disa's life is filled with work, family, and home projects. Now, Disa is looking forward to her upcoming visit to Grandma for a breather.
Grandma has hobbled past one-hundred years, but is still sharp, following everything going on around her. Living through early poverty on a rural farm, her long life has spanned all the historical events as they unfolded over the years. With her calm chuckling laugh, she always gives Disa a sense of well-being.
Grandma has kept a strange old roasting spit in a well-worn umbrella stand in her entryway for as long as Disa can remember. What Disa doesn't know is the spit will lead her into the world of ancient Nordic mythology and a mystical runic riddle. Always ready for a puzzle, Disa finds one she can't resist. Or is this her destiny knocking?
The story relates the daily life of a modern family, blending current social issues with a look into ancient Sweden's Norse mythology and literature, runestones and runic history, and how this touches her grandma's own history from nearly a hundred years before.
